The Lodge

Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge is centrally situated on the northern safari circuit in Tanzania. Close to Lake Manyara National Park and the gate to Ngorongoro Crater it’s the perfect stopover between the two.

Using Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge as a base for a few days you can also visit Tarangire National Park (about 1hr 30mins away) and Lake Eyasi (30mins away) as well as explore the region around Karatu where there are many hiking/walking opportunities and possibilities for cultural exchanges.

Located near Ayalbe village, Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge sits right next to the magnificent Ngorongoro Forest on fifteen fully fenced acres. Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge offers the traveller a perfect base from which to explore, returning each night to comfort, security and warm hospitality from our experienced staff.

As you enter the property the first thing you’ll notice are the trees. We’ve planted hundreds of white thorn acacia and other indigenous varieties, effectively expanding the forest. Scattered among these local trees are mango, guava and other fruit trees. Where there are trees, there are birds! Birders know that an area where two habitats meet is the ideal environment for a wide variety of species. Located between forest and open land, our eco-system supports many interesting birds including the rare White-tailed Blue-flycatcher, the beautiful African Paradise fly-catcher, weavers, African Harrier-Hawk and Augur buzzard just to name a few. Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge is a real birders paradise.

As well you may lucky to glimpse some of the wildlife that makes the forest its home. We’ve seen bushbuck, dik-dik, baboon and even blue monkeys from time to time here at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge.

Come stay with us for simple comforts, beautiful views, gracious hospitality and a relaxing environment. Our cool verdant location will put you immediately at ease. At Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge we’ll make sure your needs are met and we’re here to welcome you and share the wondrous sites of Tanzania.
